Scout Nexus is a 100% Black-owned, youth-led student transportation operation trading under Scout Apex Ecosystem (Pty) Ltd (CIPC 2026/414174/07). We provide a safe, structured, subscription-based shuttle service exclusively for university students living in off-campus residences.
We were founded on a simple observation: approximately 8,000 NWU Potchefstroom students living off-campus have no safe, structured transport for 9 months of the academic year. The university's own shuttle runs only during exams. For the rest of the year, students walk, take taxis, or rely on ride-hailing — facing documented risks of assault, robbery, and driver misconduct. Female students bear the greatest burden.
Scout Nexus exists to close that gap. We operate fixed-route shuttles between approved off-campus residences and the NWU campus, running every 2 hours from 06:30 to midnight. Every vehicle is GPS-tracked, AI-monitored, and staffed with a certified driver and first-aid assistant. Every student boards with their registered card. No cash. No uncertainty. No compromise on safety.
NWU's off-campus students have no structured transport for 9 months of the academic year. The university shuttle runs only during exams. For the rest — students walk, take taxis, or use ride-hailing services at their own risk.
Students walking 1.2–4 km after dark face documented risks of assault and robbery — especially women returning from the library at 22:00.
Ride-hailing services cost R80–R100 per day. Over a month, that's R1,600–R2,000 — more than most students can sustain.
Without reliable 07:30 transport, students miss early lectures. Without safe 22:00 returns, they leave the library early — sacrificing study time.
